About Me

Hi, I am Bethany, and I believe that taking care of your mental health is an important part of your everyday life. I work with individual adults through an existentialist approach to address life issues such as grief and loss, parenting challenges, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and military-related concerns. Existential therapy is just a way of saying that we explore the underlying questions about meaning, death, fear of the unknown, isolation, and the freedoms we choose.

My counseling services are tailored to each client and his/her/their individual perspective. I use a variety of practices and interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, as well as mindfulness and expressive arts techniques. I am a Navy veteran who understands the nature of military culture, career transition, and conflict.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and have my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. I received my Bachelor of Science from the U.S. Naval Academy and flew all over the world as a Naval Flight Officer for 10 years. I also have experience with children with differing abilities, IEPs, and the complex struggles that parents of these children face. Personally, I am mom to two elementary aged kids and have a (recently retired) military spouse.
